Tips for Writing a Successful College Essay

I'm truly sorry I know I say this every single time but I do try to put up content school and life just gets in the way I mean I'm gonna be really real with you guys it's hard to be a full-time student while also running a youtube channel so I hope you guys understand and can forgive me please anyways I'm excited to be back I've missed you guys today's video will be five tips about writing the best college essay writer for pay. I know this video is a little late in the game but hopefully you guys enjoyed hearing my college essays I'll link it in the cards and in the description box if you haven't watched it yet go check it out but today it's going to be more outlining tips that you guys can use maybe in the next two weeks if you're applying for the January 1st deadline before I begin I'm really excited to share that I'm partnering with ignited to produce this video ignited is an online educational platform that aims to democratize the college admission process so what they do is they help high school students gain access to affordable but still high quality college admission counseling I'm really excited to be working with and they're wonderful people I'm going to put a link in my description box so you can sign up for a session with one of their tutors they've been able to help students get into 25 of the most selective schools across the world that's my little spiel now let's get onto my tips tip number one is to help with the brainstorming process a lot of students including myself just have trouble starting because we don't know what to write about.
I know it's daunting and scary to start because you're like. I want to write a good essay that'll get me into college the best types of essays are the ones that speak to you and our personal and true to who you are so you want to take some time to think about your passions what makes you happy and maybe review your resume if you have one think back to your past experiences either internships jobs or what you do at school or at home that have brought you a lot of joy I've mentioned officers will be able to smell the that's from a mile away so don't try to in your essay this is the one place where you actually have an opportunity to talk about yourself without any restrictions the prompts are also open-ended you can really take them anywhere don't disqualify an idea just because you think it's too small or irrelevant list all of your ideas and then go through them to see which ones are actually worth writing tip number two is to use an idea that can be linked to a metaphor so it's pretty cheesy but the cheesier you make your essay honestly the better it is okay. I guess they're not technically like a linear relationship you need a certain amount of cheese okay in your essays you want to convince your reader that you've thought a lot about this topic or reflected on it enough that you know how much of an impact it's made on your life so if you're talking about baking cookies with your grandmother you can say how it's really helped you learn more about your family history or maybe even what kind of person and grandmother you might want to become so any topic that kind of goes beyond that superficial or very base layer is keep tip number three is to help you brainstorm you might want to read some previous essays from other college students so as I mentioned earlier shameless plug to watch my video where I share my essays maybe you can get some sort of inspiration from there the Harvard Crimson which is the college's daily newspaper also publishes I think every two years 50 successful college essays.
